Flagship hospital builds long-term relationship with MHS

A full compliment of services has benefitted employees, patients and the
Inova¹s bottom line.

The Client: 

Inova Fairfax Hospital, the Inova Health System's flagship hospital, is a
nationally recognized not-for-profit regional medical center and Northern
Virginia's only Level 1 Trauma Center. Inova has been a client of MHS for
eight years. Initially called in to oversee construction of a parking lot,
MHS's role at Inova blossomed into a long-term partnership. Through its
affiliation with Inova, MHS has assisted the hospital in introducing new
services and streamlining existing ones, helping their facilities management
operation to run more smoothly.

The Challenge: 

The hospital needed major parking lot renovations as well as Safety Monitor
services to create a security presence and to assist with the stack-and-pack
parking process. This first project for Inova proved extremely successful,
and the hospital realized that MHS could provide additional services that
would benefit both patients and employees.

The MHS Solution: 

After successful installation of the new parking lot and safety personnel,
MHS incorporated on-campus shuttle services, then introduced Emergency
Department (ED) greeters, who aided patients with parking and timely entry
into the ED. Greeters also assisted at the front of the hospital, creating
an orderly flow of patients and visitors in and out, and provided wheelchair
support and package delivery.

When Inova realized the need for employee-oriented services at the facility,
MHS stepped up and created Campus Corner, which offers dry cleaning, postage
stamps and movie tickets.

MHS also went back to the parking lot, converting three stalls there into a
car detailing station complete with heat lamps, allowing employees to have
their car washed or detailed at any time of the year.

The Impact: 

The services MHS has provided to Inova have benefitted employees and
patients. Efficient parking lot, shuttle and emergency room procedures
assure that patients get to appointments in a timely manner. The addition of
concierge services for employees allows hospital staff to better focus on
patient care, knowing they can tend to some of their day-to-day needs
on-site. With MHS's help, Inova has undergone a successful services makeover
of the same high quality for which its medical staff is known.
